Professional Child Care Worker (PCW)
This course focuses on preparing the students with the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed for success on the job with staff, parents and children. It will provide practical information on daily routines and on creating an appropriate daycare environment with proven techniques for guiding behaviour. This training emphasizes the importance of professionalism, ethics and continuing education. Industry trends and demands are continually monitored to ensure curriculum remains current and relevant.

Childcare workers nurture and teach children of all ages in childcare centres, nursery schools, preschools, public schools, private households, family childcare homes, and before- and after school programs. These workers play an important role in a child’s development by caring for the child when parents are at work or away for other reasons. In addition to attending to children’s basic needs, these workers organize activities that stimulate the children’s physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth. They help children to explore their interests, develop their talents and independence, build self-esteem, and learn how to get along with others.
